The face of agriculture has changed: tractors and combines are highly automated and crammed with a vast array of sensors. And already, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and even orbital satellites are becoming indispensable. The delivery of highly detailed field observations straight to a farmer’s tablet computer will soon become a standard in agriculture.
For xarvio™ it is important to be very concrete and precise, as many terms are used to describe these scenarios and technologies, but also rather different ones (Precision Ag, Smart Ag, Ag 4.0 etc.). ‘Digital Farming’ is the specific term xarvio™ will use to talk about digitization in agriculture.
BASF strives to utilize technology for precise agriculture. Today’s farming is more complex than ever before. The unpredictable nature of weather, pests, and weeds directly affect a grower’s ability to produce consistent yields. These challenges demand innovative solutions to support growers in their goal of nurturing a hungry planet.
xarvio FIELD MANAGER is an easy to use digital solution to give you the knowledge and power to make more informed decisions for your own personal farm or a client’s farms. FIELD MANAGER offers two different solutions under its umbrella: Spray Timer and Zone Spray.
There are so many factors that go into ensuring that you can protect your crops from risks. Spray Timer offers the user an opportunity to monitor these risks and ensure that your spray applications occur at the right time. Spray Timer is based on predictive disease models combined with seeding time, growth stage timing, and weather. It predicts when disease is going to be present and automatically notifies your mobile phone when the calculated fungicide application window is approaching. So you never miss the right time to spray fungicide.
Not all acres are equal. Zone Spray is a feature that allows you to create field zone-specific application maps that are ready for use in your sprayer terminal. Our system analyzes satellite data, risk models and data related to the field entered by the user plus our agronomic expertise to create accurate zone prescriptions. Zone Spray is designed to enable anybody to make an informed decision on which parts of your field are best worth protecting and follow that decision through with a simple and easy to use Zone Spray prescription. Zone Spray is only available for canola in 2020.
To access FIELD MANAGER, you require a desktop or laptop computer with an internet browser and an internet connection. Depending on your sprayer controller, you will need a USB stick, Compact Flash (CF) card or wireless data link to your sprayer to transfer the prescription. (See your equipment dealer if you’re not sure what sprayer hardware you need.)
The minimum screen resolution is 1024 x 768. A mouse is recommended for precise drawing of field boundaries.
FIELD MANAGER is now fully functional to be accessed in a mobile version. Go to your App Store or Google Play and download for free. You will have the ability to access all features from the browser model directly on your smart phone or mobile device.
High clearance sprayers with 1) Boom Section or Nozzle Shutoff Control and 2) Mapping Monitor capable of loading and executing a prescription are required.

FIELD MANAGER was designed to be easy to use. We have a series of help videos that take you through every step of the process. If you’re not comfortable with computers, give our customer service team a call and they will be happy to assist you.
In FIELD MANAGER you can select your fields using our innovative automatic bordering system, upload shapefile already created boundaries from your controller or other GIS software, draw your field boundaries manually with a few clicks of your mouse, and our newest feature if you are a user of the My John Deere Operations Centre you can now directly transfer data back and forth between My John Deere & FIELD MANAGER.
Yes. You can allow others to work with your farm as long as they have a FIELD MANAGER account with us. Once they have an account, you can assign your farm to them directly by using the “Collaboration” function under your profile. You can add users to your farm and give different secured access to your farm ranging from viewer, contributor and administrator.
The new Cross Farm Dashboard feature will also allow users who have access to or own multiple farms easily navigate through their farms and search for specific data in relation to each farm.
Field weather is a new feature for 2020 and can be accessed at the “weather” icon on the top of the FIELD MANAGER page or can be accessed when you select a specific field on the “Status” bar on the left-hand side.
Weather inside FIELD MANAGER uses in-house created weather modeling, live weather radar and collaborations with independent weather partners to create an accurate weather model to produce field specific weather for your fields.
Protecting your privacy and the security of your data are high priorities for us. That’s why we only collaborate with ISO-certified suppliers. Our cloud service provider, for example, is certified according to ISO 9001, 27001, 27017 and 27018 to ensure outstanding data security. You can find more information in the General-Conditions-of-Use link at the bottom of this page.
In April 2020, BASF and xarvio Digital Farming Solutions were happy to announce that all aspects of FIELD MANAGER would be free for the 2020 season. Both of the FIELD MANAGER features (Spray Timer and Zone Spray) will be free to use, meaning users can import boundaries, setup fields, view field specific weather data, have access to in-season imagery and create on/off Fungicide Rx maps for canola this season.
